SEE NEW
EVENTS LISTINGS, BELOW!
Here you will find an
"as-far-as-I-know-this-is-the-situation" listing of the clubs I most go to when
I wanna dance Salsa. I will try to update you the listing in the future with prices, new
schedules and new cool days for each of them
Chez Nous: Strada Carignano 47
Moncalieri tel.011-646.7501
Very cool on mondays and Thursday. Located in the south eastern part of the town, during
summer has a very large and beutiful dehors, where dancing salsa is a really hot
experience.
Patio: Cso Moncalieri, Torino tel.
011-6614841
It does not play only latin music, but (at least during summer time) Mondays and Wednesday
are latino-only nights. It has a very nice dehors as well, where you can dance and stay
cool (if you can imagine staying cool dancing salsa...).
Solotalco: via Cuneo 16, Nichelino
tel. 011-606.1058
Closed until september, it's very crowded on Sundays, where last year you could get free
rueda lessons starting at 8:30 pm (I hope they will repeat it next year...).
Sabor Latino: via Stradella 10
tel. 011-852.327
Not a huge place, with a lot of sweating. During summer time it closes the downtown
location, to open the one "in collina" (on the hills near Turin).
Opera: via Cavour 31, Alpignano
tel. 011-967.2966
Big indoor disco, closed during summertime. Nice place with two kind of music: regular
disco and latino. Very good pick if not all your friends are salsa lovers: one disco fits
all... Nice latino crowd on saturday nights.
Ganas de mar: corso Unione
Sovietica 411, tel. 011-613.231.
Pretty nice place, on two different floors.
Not a huge dancing space, but latino music all the time.
Havana Club: via Moncenisio 14,
Avigliano. tel. 011-939.685
Huge latino club, with crowded nights on Fri and Saturdays. To get there take the highway
to the Frejus tunnel (T4) and get out at the Avigliana exit: from there follow directions
to Susa and in 5 more minutes you are there. You can't miss it!
Caldomania: via Albenga 93,
Cascine Vica, Rivoli.
Nice open space inside the industrial area, with DJ Azucar, from Barrio Latino, on Wed
nights. Completely free the admittance (VERY GOOD :-) ).
To get there, get the Tangenziale (city highway) and get out at Corso Allamano (close to
Rivoli).
Once off the highway, first light take a left and then second street tothe right.
Instructors in Italy:
Barbara Sirio, Italy-IVREA near Torino, in the north.
In the new school in Ivrea she always try to renew the interest in salsa
(don't forget that in Italy the MUNDO LATINO is lived only because of passion, not thanks
to the real presence of latin people)
This year a new class - LATINO LIVE - where the music is played live
trying to explain the rhythm, clave and so on.
Thanks to Salsaweb, she went and taught at the FIRST EUROPEAN SALSA FESTIVAL IN
HAARLEM - HOLLAND
See her at http://www.canavese.it/sirio
