My Last Trip To London U.K. - 19.03-22.03.1998

Let me start this review by thanking Ian Brown salsaweb correspondent from London for his assistance and guidance on the local salsa clubs and for his Warm hospitality and that unforgettable evening at “Salsa Fusion”.
Thank You Ian.

I started my salsa weekend on Thursday night at a small club named "Bar Tiempo" Located above a Spanish restaurant ("La Finca") this club is one of the oldest clubs Operating on London.
The club is very small and is divided to three sections where people can dance. When the club gets packed (a fact that can't be avoided because it's too small) Dancing becomes a tough mission (look out from the couple dancing next to you, a twisting elbow can be a powerful weapon).
The wood dance floor is ok but the sound system is horrible and especially when the D.J. is attempting to use his microphone.
The music is based on Colombian music, but can be tolerated. The ratio of salsa and marenge is 7-8 salsa and than 1-2 marenge which is a nice ratio all consider.
The level of dancers is surprisingly good (much better than on my last visit to London).
On Fridays this club is consider the best choice there is. ???
On Thursday when people started to leave I was invited to a new club, one minute walk from "Bar Tiempo" called "Latinos". This new ownership club is a much bigger club, lots of dancing space as well as a reasonable sound and lighting system. But since it as just reopened under the new management it had not become as popular as I expect it will be in a few weeks.

Now
Saturday night at the “Salsa Fusion” club is another story indeed. This club unfortunately opens its gates every second Saturday Located in a sixties ballroom this club is the best in London and it is well worth a visit. Go at the beginning of the evening (the club opens at 9:00 PM) or you will be left outside to wait for a long time.
Best dancers in London comes to this club and as much as 500-700 salseros can dance with lots of dance space and to the best sound system I heard in London.
The club closes on 2:00 AM and if you are up to it there is a next door club named “Salsa Palladium”, which is opened until 4:00 AM, there you can find the best salsa D.J. (To my opinion in London.)
